Skanska Begins Construction of Nowy Rynek C in Poznan

Skanska has announced it started construction of Nowy Rynek C, the final building in a five-building office and retail complex located in the center of Poznan, Poland.

The company reports that it will be the first commercial office building in the country to achieve net zero operational carbon dioxide emissions and operate independently of the district heating network.

According to Skanska, Nowy Rynek C was designed by local Poznan studio Ultra Architects and completes the “city within a city” concept at the intersection of Przemysłowa and Wujka streets. The project will offer more than 28,700 square meters of gross leasable area, including approximately 25,750 square meters of office space and 2,980 square meters of retail and service areas. The building will have six above-ground floors, underground parking for 225 cars and more than 100 bicycles, and over 50 additional outdoor two-wheeler spaces.

“We are launching a breakthrough project on a European scale, putting Poznan on par with cities like London, Oslo, Stockholm, and Copenhagen, and the building will be unique in Poland in terms of high energy efficiency and net zero CO2 emissions at the operational level,” said Skanska Commercial Development Europe Executive Vice President Operations, Poland, Board Member Pawel Warda, “and we plan to deliver Nowy Rynek C in the fourth quarter of 2027.”

“During the design phase, we collaborated with experts from the Military University of Technology, and with their support, we can guarantee our tenants that in unforeseen crisis situations, underground rooms can be quickly adapted to serve as shelter for employees,” added Skanska Commercial Development Europe Project Director Roland Jarosz.
