Urmas Volens Returns to Nove

Real estate lawyer Urmas Volens has returned to Nove as a Partner after spending five years at the Estonian Supreme Court.

As reported by CEE Legal Matters on January 15, 2026, the former Estonian Supreme Court Justice focuses on real estate, property, and corporate law as well as on government relations, policy development, and research. He co-founded Nove in 2016, where he worked as a Partner until 2020, when he joined the Estonian Supreme Court. Earlier, he worked for Sorainen as a Specialist Counsel from 2010 to 2016. Earlier still, he worked for the Estonian Ministry of Justice in various positions from 1998 to 2009.

“Urmas is one of Nove’s founders and has made a significant contribution to the firm’s development,” commented co-founder Kristjan Tamm. “He is one of Estonia’s leading experts in private law, with long-standing professional experience as a public official, Attorney at Law, lecturer in law, and Supreme Court justice. His return brings a strong addition to Nove’s expertise.”

“Returning to Nove is a great opportunity for me to focus on the fields of law where I am strongest: property law and real estate, contracts, and corporate law,” Volens added. “I hope that my knowledge and experience will help further develop Nove’s real estate law practice and contribute to the growth of Estonia’s best law firm and the strengthening of its team.”
