Deka Announces “Comprehensive Upgrade” for InterContinental Warsaw

The five-star InterContinental Warsaw is undergoing a comprehensive modernization.

With 45 floors and a height of 164 meters, the InterContinental ranks among the tallest hotels in Europe. It offers 414 rooms, including 76 suites, as well as a spa, fitness center, and one of the highest indoor swimming pools on the continent.

According to Deka Immobilien, which acquired the hotel in 2012, “at the heart of this transformation lies a new restaurant and bar concept designed to appeal to both international guests and local residents. The redesign of the lobby and first floor marks the beginning of a new chapter for the hotel.” In addition, Deka reports, “local artists are also contributing to the project, adding cultural depth and a unique creative identity. The goal is to establish an open and inspiring social hub in the heart of Warsaw.”

“With the repositioning of InterContinental Warsaw, we are not only creating culinary value but also investing strategically in the cultural and urban relevance of the property,” said Franziska Thanheiser, Asset Manager at Deka.”

The first phase, scheduled for completion by June 2025, will see the creation of a new bar at the center of the hotel lobby, envisioned as a dynamic, all-day social meeting point. The second phase, to be completed by autumn 2025, will introduce a 563-square-meter signature restaurant featuring a private dining room and an open show kitchen. The restaurant will present itself as a “casual luxe” destination, combining a relaxed atmosphere, modern cuisine, and panoramic views. Deka is conceiving of the lobby bar as “a tribute to nature, with classic cocktails refined using Polish herbs, wild plants and foraged ingredients – creating a distinctive, locally inspired flavor profile.”
