Studenac has acquired Slovenia’s Kea chain of grocery stores from seller Bostjan Kukovicic.
Studenac is a retailer headquartered in Omis, Croatia. It has more than 6200 employees and more than 1200 stores, and was founded in 1991.
Kea is based in Sentjur, Slovenia. The company, which has its own stores as well as a number of Tus franchises, employs around 250 employees across 31 stores in Celje, Maribor, and in Slovenia’s Prekmurje and Primorska regions. In 2023 it reported nearly EUR 50 million in revenue and EUR 1.3 million in net profit.
The Sibincic Novak & Partners law firm advised Studenac, and the Gregorovic, Dobrajc, Mlinaric law firm advised the seller.
This continues Studenac’s recent expansion, coming shortly after its recent acquisition of 36 stores from Zagreb-based retailer Decentia (as reported by CEE Real Estate Matters on August 16, 2024).
